VPN / Firewall / AVI
Medical Practice - A medical practice with three branch offices was having trouble with reliable connections to the main office’s practice management system running on a Citrix Server. L4 Networks designed and implemented a IPSEC VPN network which immediately stabilized the infrastructure and enable branch offices reliably access the corporate systems.
Commercial Insurance Agency– growing insurance agency with 4 branch offices needed a solution to minimize growing IT support costs for user workstations problems and enable remote offices and agents faster access to corporate applications.
L4 Networks designed, built and configured a Microsoft Terminal Services server and converted existing applications to run under it. All locally installed applications on the workstations (except anti-virus and workstation firewall) were de-installed. All users were then set to run all applications from the Terminal Services server.
L4 Networks also established several IPSEC VPN tunnels linking their branch offices to headquarters. We used the SnapGear firewall/VPN appliances at all locations. This gave remote users fast and easy access to the Terminal Services server. The branch offices only needed standard business DSL connections.
The success of this project resulted in a 25% growth in the business in past year. It also enabled agents to carry their laptops (with WWAN cards) to customer sites and connect back to the Terminal Services server. Thus, while sitting with the customer, the agent could explore various commercial policy options and costs in real time.
Mid-size Financial Services Agency - Customer approached L4 Networks after struggling several months with constant problems stemming from an external attack that compromised several critical IT assets. The incumbent support vendor had sold them solutions that establish VPNs and gateway firewalls and they were ensured that these were adequate to protect the organization from external attacks. Yet on-going server and workstation instability continued to plague the organization.
Our engineers discovered that the firewall features in all internet facing VPN routers were disabled. No workstation or gateway level anti spyware nor workstation firewalls, furthermore, had been implemented. Numerous systems were infected with serious spyware and Trojans.
We proposed a solution that included the installation of SnapGear Firewall VPN Routers in HQ and all branch offices. Their current gateways could not support their planned migration to VoIP and had inferior security features that could be easily breached. We also proposed the writing of custom firewall rules that matched the customer’s business process profile, and the installation and configuration of Agnitum Outpost Firewall/anti-Spyware on all workstations. We also proposed repairing damage to operating systems comprehensive by viruses and spyware programs and the stabilization of business critical back office applications.
Our proposal was accepted and within 2 weeks, the firm’s IT operations were secured and stabilized.
